Marty Allamian

Marty has been coaching the at the Cyclones for 21 years.  He is a level 4 coach and has coached every age group either as an assistant or as a head coach. He played four years at Northern Illinois University.

Coach Allamian especially likes coaching the 8U players, his philosophy is simple, make sure the kids are safe and are having fun. He plays everybody, in all situations and encourage them to play their hardest and not worry about making mistakes. During practice I stress skating at all levels and work on age-appropriate hockey skills through different drills, games, and situational type play.  During games, I try to point out different things the kids can do and encourage them to try things we have learned in practice.

His favorite coaching experience was “When we were losing by one goal, and I pulled the goalie to get an extra attacker.  The referee said our player went out too early, so he blew the whistle and made our goalie go back to the net.  As play resumed, I waved to our goalie to come to the bench again-and he refused to come. He just shook his head “no”.   We never did get him out, but we scored anyway.”

His favorite player is Duncan Keith because he is a very good skater, and an aggressive defenseman who is not afraid to jump into the offensive rush.

Coach Allamian has two son who currently play hockey-one for Winona State University and the other for Florida Gulf Coast University.
